Our Mission

Port Colborne/Wainfleet Healthy Lifestyles Coalition is a community-based organization that focuses on the issue of substance abuse prevention and promotes healthy decision making skill development and a safe, vibrant community. We are currently funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion as one of 22 FOCUS communities. Our lead agency is the Niagara Health System.

Community partnerships and collaborations are fundamental to our success! As we continue to evolve as an organization we have formed several key relationships with other local organizations and coalitions to further promote and share our programming and resources. In addition to our fantastic Advisory Committee, other new and significant ventures include:

• Every Kid in Our Community (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) Coalition, a group of over 20 local organizations using Search Institute’s 40 Development Asset^TM framework to ensure the best chance for success for our local children and youth.  Click here to view our brochure.

• Safe Communities Port Colborne, a collaborative effort that has been started to help the residents of Port Colborne come together to create a sense of awareness, understanding, support and leadership to implement local programs to reduce injuries and promote safety. Under the umbrella of the National Safe Communities Canada organization, the City of Port Colborne achieved full designation as a Canada’s 56th “Safe Community” on March 31st, 2009.  The vision of Safe Communities Port Colborne is to make Port Colborne a safe community in which to live, learn, work, and play!
